Welcome to Crivella West Incorporated's Public Access Collections. The Bush White House – US Attorney Materials Collection contains emails and interviews related to the investigation of the Bush Administration’s employee hiring and termination decisions concerning U.S. Attorneys at the Department of Justice. This Collection includes over 5,400 pages of White House and Republican National Committee staff communications relating to the removal of eight sitting U.S.Attorneys and their subsequent replacements and over 700 pages of on-the-record transcripts of interviews between House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers and both Karl Rove, who was Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff, and Harriet Miers, who was White House Counsel. These documents are offered by Crivella West as part of an ongoing effort to make publicly-available documents accessible in an easy-to-use, searchable form.

Key Correspondent Collections
The Key Correspondent Collections were created by Crivella West for the ten individuals who either initiated and/or received the most emails. The title for each individual at the time of the controversy is noted. These Collections provide the documents in a new and unique way – whereas the Department of Justice originally released these documents in 1,000 page clusters, Crivella West provides each individual email as a separate document with metadata including dates, authors, recipients and subject lines, to make searching and analyzing the collection easier and faster. In addition, Crivella West has developed and implemented proprietary linguistic analyzers to identify “hot” documents, those where the writer expresses strong emotions.

What is a Special Collection?
Crivella West uses its propriety analytical processes to find information pertinent to specific topics in a document collection. For the White House Collection, Crivella West developed two Special Collections: Engineered Special Collections and Researched Special Collections.
The Engineered Special Collections were created using an automated linguistic analysis that finds documents containing language indicating strong emotion or emotive language.
The Researched Special Collections were developed and created by Crivella West personnel, who reviewed and identified topics of interest in the records. These topics included such things as the controversial hiring and termination decisions related to US Attorneys.
These Special Collections can be accessed by clicking on the Special Collections link under Public Access Collections.
Using the Site
- Click on Search link located under Public Access Collections.
- Enter desired search term(s) into search bar and click the "Search" button.
- Select desired document and click on document link - example, "Subject: RE: schedule".
- Search term(s) can include single terms or phrases.
- When searching for a phrase, surround with double quotes - example "US Attorney ".
- Advanced operators that can be used while searching include AND, OR, and NOT.
